Poor urban women (PUW) reassert their economic rights and become pro-active participating citizens in the social, economic and political development of their communities. This is done by:
- Increasing poor urban women’s incomes through income generating sales of products
- Providing sustainable means of generating income, that can be multiplied and expanded at a low cost.
This project tackels the lack of sustainable means of livelihood and income generating activities for PUW. Women in Alternative Action has extended networks consisting of poor urban women and it is in meetings, participatory monitoring sessions and workshops that these women have voiced the need for this kind of support. They have voiced their concerns and propositions for how to support them in alleviating poverty. Poor urban women struggle every day to find money to make ends meet, the project seeks to help them break this cycle of poverty.
